Position Summary

The Application Engineer will coordinate the selection, installation, and commissioning of BIOIONIX® equipment in customers’ facilities. This will requires becoming intimately familiar with our product line and its capabilities and options. The Application Engineer will work with the Sales Team to specify and quote the proper equipment, with the Operations Team to assist with production of the equipment, and with the Service Team to install and commission the equipment. This will require travel to customers’ sites to evaluate their needs and installation requirements, and to assist with installation and start-up of the equipment. This position requires up to 65% travel, domestically and internationally.

Position Duties

  • Support the Sales & Marketing Team in equipment selection and documentation necessary for sales presentation and quoting, including understanding potential customers’ manufacturing systems and how BIOIONIX systems can be integrated.
  • Provide support to the operations to the Operations Team in the from of production requirements, including bills of material, wiring diagrams, and other related documentation, as well as assisting in physical assembly of the equipment.
  • Assist with engineering of equipment, including specifications and design of new components and equipment.
  • Document and continuously improve the operating efficiencies and other competitive advantages of the company’s processes though trials in the company’s test lab and at customer sites.
  • Provide technical support to the BIOIONIX Service Team and customers’ contractors during installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • As required, supervise field installation work and participate in the startup of the company’s products for new applications.
  • Other duties and responsibilities, and changes to these duties and responsibilities, as directed by company management.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate degree or apprenticeship in Industrial Controls, Automation, or related field, or significant documented experience such a field, especially in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the food and beverage industry. Experience with liquid products, sanitary design, and fluid handling is a bonus.
  • Experience working with mechanical and electrical drawings, including process & instrumentation diagram and electrical schematics.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, or similar 3D modelling software.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI Programming, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge in electrochemistry, food and beverage sanitation, water treatment, corrosion of metals, and/or bacteriology is a plus.
  • Fluid Dynamics – Piping, pump sizing and control, fluid velocity, sanitary design
  • The demonstrated ability to take independent initiative yet work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience and comfort supervising installations at field sites, using tools, and dealing professionally at all levels of customer organizations.
  • Ability to travel up to 65% as required.
